> Upgrade or downgrade between Solo, Growth, and Enterprise, switch monthly and annual, move to Agency via the Embers team, and what happens over a smaller cap.

Plan changes happen in one place: **Settings**, then **Billing** (`/settings/billing`). The Billing tab is visible to the account owner.

## The plan ladder

- **Solo, Growth, and Enterprise** switch self-serve in either direction from the Billing screen.
- **Agency** and **Signal War Room** are set up with the Embers team. Email viraj@useembers.com. There is no self-serve checkout for either.

Every self-serve plan is one workspace, so a plan change never adds or removes workspaces. It changes the member cap, the watched profile cap, the keyword cap, and the support level. See [Plans and limits](/help/account-and-billing/plans-and-limits/).

## Before you start

- You need an active subscription. If a cancellation is pending, resume it first. Embers rejects a plan change with "Resume your subscription before changing plans" while a cancellation is scheduled.
- Decide the interval as well as the plan. Monthly to annual is a plan change too.
- If you are moving down, check the Watchlist and Keywords counts first. See the downgrade section below.

## Upgrade or change interval

### Open the plan card

**Settings**, then **Billing** shows your current plan, the interval, and the next billing date.

### Preview the cost

Embers previews the change before committing it, so you see the prorated amount rather than discovering it on the invoice.

### Confirm

Upgrades and same-tier interval changes take effect **immediately**, with prorated billing. The higher limits are live as soon as the change lands.

## Downgrade

A downgrade to a lower tier is **scheduled**, not immediate. Embers sets it to take effect at your **next billing date**, with no bill in between, so you keep the plan you already paid for until the period ends.

While a downgrade is pending, the plan card shows a line like "Your plan will change to Solo on" followed by the effective date, and "You keep your current plan access until then", along with a control to cancel the scheduled change.

A downgrade is blocked while usage exceeds the target plan:

- More **watched profiles** or **keywords** than the target cap. Enterprise to Growth means at most 10 profiles and 25 keywords; Growth or Enterprise to Solo means at most 5 and 10.
- More than one **member** when the target is Solo.

Trim the Watchlist and Keywords screens, or remove members, until you are at or under the target cap, then schedule the downgrade again.

> **Note: Two different things**
>
> A scheduled downgrade moves you to a smaller paid plan. A cancellation ends the subscription entirely. See [Cancel, pause, or resume](/help/account-and-billing/cancel-pause-or-resume/).

## What happens to data over the new limits

Nothing is deleted to make your account fit a smaller plan.

- **Watched profiles and keywords** that already exist are kept. If a subscription lapses and you end up over a cap, the extra entries pause and new additions are blocked until you are back under it.
- **Leads, scores, notes, follow ups, drafts, owners, and reports** are untouched by a plan change.
- **Members** stay on the workspace after a downgrade to Growth. Solo is one member, so extra members must be removed before that downgrade is scheduled.

> **Warning: Downgrading to Free stops the agents**
>
> Free cannot run signal agents or route leads. If a subscription ends and the account returns to Free, every agent job is paused automatically. The jobs and their history stay, and they resume when a paid plan is active again.

## Monthly and annual

Switching between monthly and annual on the same tier is treated as an immediate change with prorated billing, the same as an upgrade. Annual is billed once for the year: Solo $39 per month ($468), Growth $79 per month ($948), Enterprise $159 per month ($1,908).

## Moving to Agency

Agency is priced per client workspace, with volume pricing by client count. Email viraj@useembers.com with your client count. The Embers team confirms the quote, and your existing workspace becomes the first client workspace. Your leads, notes, and integrations come with it.

## Troubleshooting

**The change plan button is missing**

Plans managed by an administrator, including Agency and Signal War Room, show "Your plan is managed by an administrator" and cannot be changed from the app. Contact viraj@useembers.com.

**It says to resume my subscription first**

A pending cancellation blocks plan changes. Resume the subscription on the same screen, then change the plan.

**The downgrade is blocked by usage**

Open **Watchlist** and **Keywords** and delete entries until the counts fit the target plan. On a move to Solo, also remove every member except the owner under Settings, then Team.
