> What Embers reads, what it keeps and for how long, how to export your leads, and how to delete an account when you are finished with it.

Embers is built on public activity. It reads what people have already published on LinkedIn, scores it against your ICP, and stores the result in your account. The full legal statement is the [privacy policy](/privacy/); this page is the practical version.

## What Embers reads

- **Public data only.** Posts, comments, reactions, and public profile information. Nothing behind a login, and nothing private.
- **You connect a profile by pasting its public URL.** Embers never asks for your LinkedIn password or session cookie, never installs a browser extension, and never signs in as you.
- **Embers takes no action on LinkedIn.** No posting, liking, connecting, following, or messaging. DM drafts are written for you to send by hand.
- Embers is not a cold contact database and does not scrape private data. Everyone in your account got there by doing something public.

## What Embers keeps, and for how long

The 30 day figures are worth understanding as two different things. Delivery logs are a rolling window: you can inspect the last 30 days of attempts on the Integrations and webhooks screens, and older attempts fall away. The enrichment and contact caches are freshness rules: a stored lookup is reused for up to 30 days, and after that Embers fetches it again rather than showing you something stale.

Beyond that, personal data is retained only for as long as it is needed for the purposes set out in the privacy policy, or for as long as the law requires.

## Exporting your data

> CSV export requires Solo or above and an account administrator, like every other way of getting data out of the app.

The export is a CSV of the leads you have selected, from the leads table, with the keyboard shortcut `Cmd` or `Ctrl` plus `E`. Select all is capped at 5000 rows per file, so a larger account exports in batches. See [CSV export](/help/integrations/csv-export/) for the full column list.

For a continuous copy rather than a one time file, point a [signed webhook](/help/integrations/webhooks/) at your own endpoint and keep the events as they happen.

## Deleting an account

> **Warning: This cannot be undone**
>
> Deleting an account permanently removes the account and all of its data, including every lead, team member, and scheduled job. There is no restore.

### Cancel the subscription first

Deleting the account does not end billing. Cancel from **Settings**, then **Billing** and let the period run out, or cancel first and delete after. See [Cancel, pause, or resume](/help/account-and-billing/cancel-pause-or-resume/).

### Export anything you want to keep

Once the account is gone, so is the data. Take the CSV before you delete, not after.

### Open Settings, then Account

Go to `/settings/account`. The **Danger zone** card is at the bottom and is shown to the account owner only.

### Confirm the deletion

Choose **Delete account** and confirm in the dialog, which names the account you are about to delete. If you are a member rather than the owner, the control you want is **Leave team** on the same screen.

## Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask for access to the personal data held about you, correction of anything inaccurate, erasure, or withdrawal of consent, and you can raise a grievance or nominate someone to act for you. Every one of those requests goes to viraj@useembers.com.

## Frequently asked questions

**Does Embers log in to LinkedIn as me?**

No. You paste a public profile URL. There is no password, no session cookie, and no browser extension, so there is no automation footprint on your LinkedIn account.

**Is my data sold?**

No. The privacy policy states that Embers does not sell personal data.
