> Every profile Embers reads is a watched profile with a role, your own included. How many each plan allows, what Own adds, and what deleting one removes.

Embers reads public LinkedIn profiles that you choose to watch. Every one of them, including your own, is a **watched profile** with a role. There are no connected accounts, no seats, and no add-on prices. The only number that matters is how many watched profiles your plan allows.

## What a watched profile is

A watched profile is any public LinkedIn URL you add on the **Watchlist** screen (`/watchlist`). Each entry carries a role chip:

| Role | Use it for |
| --- | --- |
| Own | A profile you or your team post from |
| Competitor | A rival whose audience overlaps with yours |
| Influencer | A voice in your niche whose followers are your buyers |
| Investor | A fund or partner whose network you sell into |
| Teammate | A colleague posting from their own profile, when you do not treat it as Own |
| Advisor | Someone advising in your space |
| Client founder | A client you run the workspace for |
| Other | Anything that does not fit the list |

All roles are added from the same list and the same add form. The role changes how Embers treats the results, not what it reads: everything comes from public posts and public engagement, without a login.

## What the Own role adds

An **Own** entry tells Embers this is your voice, not a prospect's:

- It spawns **post monitoring** and **comment monitoring** for that profile, so the people who react to your posts, comment on them, or reply to your comments elsewhere become candidate leads.
- The profile itself is **excluded from leads**. You never appear in your own queue.
- It gives the [outreach voice](/help/outreach/outreach-voice/) something to learn from.

Your own profile is optional. Add none, one, or several within the cap.

## How many you get

| Plan | Watched profiles | Tracked keywords |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | 1 | 0 |
| Solo | 5 | 10 |
| Growth | 10 | 25 |
| Enterprise | 20 | 50 |
| Agency | 20 per client workspace | 50 per client workspace |

The cap is per workspace, and every self-serve plan is one workspace. Own profiles count toward the same cap as everyone else on the list. Members do not count and are never billed.

> **Note: At the cap**
>
> The Watchlist shows "X of Y" and refuses new entries past the cap. Nothing already on the list is removed. To make room, delete a profile or move up a tier under [Change your plan](/help/account-and-billing/change-plan/).

## Add a watched profile

### Open the Watchlist

**Watchlist** (`/watchlist`) lists every profile on the workspace, with its role, scan status, and the count against your cap.

### Paste the public URL and pick a role

Use the canonical form, for example `https://www.linkedin.com/in/your-name`. Choose a role chip. Pick **Own** for a profile you post from.

### Confirm

The profile is queued for its first scan. Embers never asks for a password, a session cookie, or a browser extension.

During onboarding the same form appears as the "Add profiles" step, and at least one profile of any role is required to reach the preview.

## Edit or delete a profile

You can change a profile's role at any time from its row. Deleting one depends on the role.

- **Deleting a competitor, influencer, investor, or other non-own profile** stops its scans and removes it from the list. Leads already attributed to it keep their attribution and history.
- **Deleting an Own profile** soft-deletes its posts, its engagements, and the leads that came **only** from that profile. Leads that also engaged with another watched profile stay. Notes are kept.

> **Warning: Deleting an Own profile asks you to confirm**
>
> The confirmation dialog shows how many posts, engagements, and leads will go before you proceed. Read the counts. If a lead you care about came only from that profile, add a note or move it to a list first; notes survive the deletion.

## Frequently asked questions

**Is a teammate the same as a watched profile?**

No. Inviting a member gives a person a login on the shared lead book, and members are never billed. A watched profile is a public LinkedIn URL Embers reads, and it counts toward the plan cap whoever it belongs to.

**Do I have to add my own profile?**

No. Your own profile is optional. Add it with the Own role when you want Embers to qualify the people who engage with your posts and comments. Leave it out to watch other people's profiles only.

**Can I add more than one own profile?**

Yes. Add as many own profiles as you like within the watched profile cap. Each one runs its own post and comment monitoring.
