Find your way around the Embers app

The sidebar, the Settings sections, the pages it does not list, the command palette on Cmd or Ctrl K, and every keyboard shortcut in the app.

Updated 5 min read

Every screen in Embers hangs off one sidebar, and a command palette on Cmd K (Ctrl K on Windows and Linux) reaches everything, including the pages the sidebar leaves out. This page maps both, plus the keyboard shortcuts.

The sidebar

From top to bottom:

  • The workspace card. The name of the workspace you are in, your role, and the plan. Click it to open Switch workspace: every workspace you can open, Add workspace, and Workspace settings. See switch between workspaces.
  • Search. Opens the command palette.
  • The Workspace list, in this order:
RowPathWhat it is for
Dashboard/dashboardThe numbers, the strongest opportunity, and the newest qualified leads. See the dashboard
Clients/agencyAgency portfolios only. See agency workspaces
Agents/agentsTurn each signal agent on or off and read its scans. See choose your agents
Leads/leadsEvery lead, with the total beside the row. See the leads list
Posts/postsEvery post Embers watches, ranked by the leads it produced
Comments/commentsYour comments on other people’s posts and who engaged with them
Watchlist/watchlistThe profiles, company pages, keywords, and posts you monitor
ICP/icpYour ideal customer profile. See define your ICP
Integrations/integrationsOne card per destination, with its connection state
Settings/settings/profilePersonal, workspace, and plan settings
  • What’s new, the latest product update.
  • Your user card. The menu behind it shows who you are signed in as and holds Sign out.

The collapse button next to the logo folds the sidebar to a rail of icons, with each label in a tooltip. Embers remembers the choice in that browser. On a phone, the menu button at the top of the page opens the sidebar as a drawer, and the search button beside it opens the palette.

Get help from any page

The ? button in the bottom-right corner of every page opens the help menu, the same one this site has:

  • Search docs finds help center articles as you type; each result opens in a new tab.
  • Help center, Developers, and Changelog open this site in a new tab.
  • Share feedback sends a bug, a request, or an idea to the team, with the page you are on attached.
  • Email us starts an email to viraj@useembers.com.
  • Chat with us opens the support chat. When the team replies, a dot appears on the ? and the row says New reply.
  • Book a call books time with the Embers team.

The button steps aside while a dialog or side panel is open, and while the chat is open it closes the chat.

Settings

Choosing Settings swaps the workspace list for the Settings sections. Back to workspace returns you to the last page you had open.

WorkspaceTeam/settings/teamEveryone; inviting needs Growth or above and an administrator

PlanBilling/settings/billingThe account owner

Account settings covers what each section holds.

Pages the sidebar does not list

A few screens have no sidebar row. Open them from the palette or by path:

  • Priority Queue (/priority-queue): the ranked list of who to deal with next. /today redirects here. See the Priority Queue.
  • Reports (/reports): client and stakeholder reports. See client reports.
  • Keywords (/keywords) and Qualify Post (/qualify-post): the posts your tracked keywords matched, and qualifying a single post. The Watchlist’s Add monitor adds both kinds of source.
  • Setup (/setup): the checklist that follows onboarding. See the setup checklist.

Search with the command palette

  1. Open the palette

Press Cmd K or Ctrl K from any page, or choose Search in the sidebar.

  2. Type what you are looking for

With nothing typed, the palette lists every page, your workspaces, and Help center. Type two or more characters and it also searches your leads (names, companies, job titles), your posts, and your comments, showing up to five of each, plus a “Search leads for …” row that opens the full filtered list.

  3. Pick a result

Move with the arrow keys, open with Enter, and close with Esc. Picking a lead opens its full lead page, with notes and follow-up dates.

On the Leads page the palette adds Search leads and Export leads. Administrators also get Webhooks and Connected apps entries.

Keyboard shortcuts

Press ? anywhere to open the full list for the page you are on. Letter shortcuts never fire while you are typing in a field.

Frequently asked questions

How do I search across leads, posts, and comments?
Press Cmd K on a Mac or Ctrl K elsewhere, or choose Search under the workspace card, and type at least two characters. The palette shows matching leads, posts, and comments, plus a search of each page.
Where is the Priority Queue in the sidebar?
It is not listed there. Open it at /priority-queue (the older /today address redirects to it).
Why do some Settings sections not appear for me?
Settings hides what your role cannot use. Developer is for administrators, Billing for the account owner, and Clients only appears on an agency portfolio.
