# Block a company URL: https://useembers.com/help/leads/company-blocklist/ Category: Leads and scoring Plan: Solo and above Updated: 2026-09-12 Last verified: 2026-09-12 > Block a company once and everyone who works there leaves your queue, lists, exports, reports, digests, and every delivery destination. Here is how. Some companies are never going to be leads: your own, your agency's partners, a customer you already have. Blocking one is a single action, and the whole workspace obeys it, every watched profile included. > **Warning: Solo and above** > > The blocklist screen requires Solo or above. Blocking from a lead or from the Priority Queue needs the same plan. ## Block a company ### From Settings Go to **Settings**, then **Account** (`/settings/account#blocklist`) and open **Blocked Companies**. Choose **Add Company**, enter the domain, and optionally a company name when it is not obvious from the domain. ### From a lead Use the **Block** action next to the company name on the leads list or in the lead detail panel. The lead is dismissed at the same time, and the toast tells you how many other leads went with it. ### From the Priority Queue Open the **More** menu on a card and choose the block action. It names the company before you commit. ### In bulk Select leads in the table and choose **Block company**. The confirm dialog lists every company in the selection before anything is blocked. ## How matching works A LinkedIn member record carries a company name, not a website, so Embers matches on names derived from what you entered. Each entry produces a small set of aliases: the company name you gave, the registrable part of the domain, and hyphen variants of either. So `acme.com` also catches "Acme", "Acme Inc", and "Acme, Inc.". Aliases shorter than three characters are dropped, which stops a two-letter domain hiding half your list. A person is blocked when an alias matches their current company, an "at" phrase in their headline, a current position in their work history, or the name of the member row itself for company pages. > **Note: Current roles only** > > Someone who used to work at a blocked company is not blocked. Only their current roles are checked. ## Where the block applies Enforcement sits in the two functions every lead surface already calls, so there is no screen with its own copy of the rule. Blocked people are absent from: - The leads list, the Priority Queue, lead stats, and lead detail. - The New Engagers, Going Cold, and ICP Watching views. - CSV exports, lead lists, and the company and position filter menus. - Client reports, weekly digests, the first-leads email, hot-lead notifications, and agency views. - The onboarding preview. It also gates delivery. A lead is only sent to a destination when its score is above 0, **and** it is an ICP match or you approved it by hand, **and** its company is not blocked. That single check sits in front of Slack, HubSpot, and signed webhooks, so nothing you blocked reaches an outreach tool. ## Reading the list Each row shows the domain, the company name, and the date it was added. Two extra labels appear when they apply: - **Added automatically**: seeded from your own company when you connected a LinkedIn profile or defined your ICP. - **From a lead**: created by blocking somebody from the queue or the list. Entries with no label were typed in by hand. Each row also reports how many leads it is currently hiding, ignoring anyone already excluded as your own team or a tracked competitor's employee. ## Unblock a company Delete the entry from **Blocked Companies**. The change takes effect everywhere at once rather than waiting out a cache, so the leads reappear within about a minute. Nothing was deleted while the entry existed, so the scores, notes, and history come back with them. > **Tip: Blocking is not dismissing** > > Dismiss removes one person. Block removes everyone at their company, now and in the future, including people Embers has not found yet. It never removes an entry on its own, so you can delete it if you want teammates in your leads. **Does blocking delete the leads?** No. The leads are hidden while the entry exists. Remove the entry and they come back.
